The Manor House at Upton Grey

We were finally staying more than one night in one place. At South Warnborough we had found a B&B that wasn't optimum but tolerable and it didn't require packing up again. We headed for the Manor House at Upton Grey to meet Rosamund Wallinger. She wrote a book about the restoration of this garden and house in the village of Upton Grey (a very hilly place) which was designed by an architect and landscape designer duo who are famous - Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyl. Jekyl is world-renowned for her influence on gardening in the late 19th century. The garden was beautiful and meticulously maintained by Rosamund and her gardener and the three dogs. If you look closely at the top picture you can find a fluorescent bunny in the weeds by the water!

All this riding in the rain - I'm impressed. I'd probably curl up in some cozy pub and wait it out. Does England have a dry season?

What wonderful photos! I'm so happy you guys got the chance to upload them.

Maybe you guys should work on a cable access show here about "thinking like a bike"

Chris, Well it's been a lot dryer and sunnier for the last several days so we have had a good reprieve...

Christine so glad you like the photos - I'm devoting a lot of attention to that so you can all get a real feel for what we're seeing here...
