Our ride out of Reading should have been documented but wasn't because it was too irritating. We followed a Sustrans route that took us up a ridiculous hill path that was totally unrideable and involved a narrow dirt track that we had to push both bikes up. Ann needed my help pushing her bike as it is loaded with so much of our gear. Turns out we could have just stayed on a main road???? Ann can explain that later. What you see here are some of the prettier parts of the ride that day (this past Saturday - it is now Monday). We did 40 easy miles. Whew. The fields here are filled with poppies, sometimes oats, often barley and lots of wheat. Ann kept asking why the poppies were purple as she only had seen them as red before!!
